RINCON VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL 

Staff

- Every staff member is fully credentialed and on average has at least 15 years teaching experience
- Teachers work in collaborative teams twice a month to coordinate assignments, create projects, support students, plan interventions, coordinate site-wide events, and much more

Facilities

- Rincon Video TV (RVTV) is a TV program produced on campus and aired on campus every Friday. Equipment includes professional green screen and video editing capabilities
- All students have access to the internet in the library and in their classrooms. Students also use wireless laptops for science investigations and multi-media presentations
- RVMS is a wonderfully inclusive environment for students with special needs
- State-of-the-art computer lab
- Full court gymnasium and new locker rooms

Achievements and Awards

- Received California Distinguished Schools Award
- Received Governor's Performance Award based on high academic performance index scores
- API score of 873, highest ranked middle school in the district.  Met, or exceeded, all state and federal targets for student achievement
- 100% of Algebra students scored advanced or proficient on the California Standards Test (statewide average is 36%)

Parent Involvement

- 260 active parent volunteers, parent participation and volunteerism is exceptional
Curriculum and Programs
- Students are rewarded for academic performance with Student of the Week, Falcon cards, letters home, and our fantastic Renaissance program
- Exemplary extra-curricular programs such as Math Counts, GATE, Sport-A-Rama, school musicals, safe school ambassadors, lunch intramural programs, color teams, ASB activities, and much more
- After school Homework Club staffed by credentialed teachers and parent volunteers
- Excellent Art program in a variety of mediums
- Web-based Homework Hotline allows parents to monitor student homework, anytime, anywhere
- All students in 8th grade are exposed to Shakespeare in preparation for high school
- Algebra offered to qualified 7th and 8th grade students and only middle school offering a Geometry class
- Lunchtime clubs facilitated by teacher volunteers such as Lunch Time Athletic Association (intramurals), Yearbook, Honor Society, Math Counts, Art, and Choir
- Fun and well supervised on-campus dances offer students safe afternoon  activities
- Performing Arts produces 2 musicals per year
- Solid two year Spanish program
- Students may take multiple electives
- New Culinary Explorations class introduces students to a wide range of culinary experiences, and prepares them for the Maria Carrillo High School culinary program
