Curriculum and Programs
- University Center at Elsie Allen High School (UC@EA), a supportive college preparation and placement magnet program in partnership with Sonoma State University, allows 100 University Center students the opportunity to attend college classes and have first priority to get into Sonoma State University
- Honors classes in every subject and eleven advanced placement classes
- New Ag Mechanics course in the Agriculture & Natural Resources pathway
- Pathways in the following areas: Agriculture, Arts and Communications, Business & Informational Technology, Building Trades, Construction & Engineering, Child Development, and University preparation
Achievements and Awards
- Our Advanced Placement test scores rank above the national average
- Students participated in the 2008 Girls State and Boys State Student Leadership Programs
- Student artwork has been accepted into the National Council on the Education for Ceramics Art student exhibit
- The Arts Program has twice won the Congressional Art Competition
- The Drama Program won the Best Overall Performance at Dionysia and several recognitions at the Lenaea Festival including two gold medals for acting, a bronze for playwriting, a bronze for directing, and silver for best school production in 2006; as well as the top award for playwriting In 2008
- In 2006, students studied local history using images, music, maps and costumes from turn of the century Santa Rosa to help create our spring production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town into a theatrical event that truly reflected the spirit of our town, Santa Rosa
- The Agricultural Program won the 2005 North Coast Region FFA Public Speaking Competition, the Ag Boosters Club raises $40,000 annually to support student projects and travel for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program
- The Lobo Rugby Club placed second in the 2005 national tournament held at Stanford University, several students have gone on to play for universities and the national rugby team
- The EAHS drum line has performed for the Santa Rosa City Council and the Santa Rosa City School Board
- The EAHS Lobo Band is the only band in the area that performs half-time shows for the home football games and has performed several times down “Main Street” in Disneyland
- The Madrigals vocal performance group placed second overall and received a unanimous “superior” award for their performance at Disneyland, the Vocal Ensemble received an “excellent” standing in the same competition
UC @ EA Outstanding Student Accomplishments
- Every 2008 senior was accepted into his/her college of choice
- UC@EA was nominated for the prestigious California School Boards Association Golden Bell Award
- One student attended MIT's advanced math, science and engineering summer program. He was one 1 out of 1000 that applied and 1 out of 66 nationwide that was chosen to participate.
- A student spent three weeks at Brown University, Rhode Island, in an Environmental Challenges of the 21st Century program
- One student is a Santa Rosa City Schools Board Member
- A student is a member of the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library Advisory Board
- One student scored a perfect 800 in the math reasoning portion of the SAT; another aced the SAT’s Math Level II test; another student earned perfect scores in four portions of the SAT
- One student participated in the Kaiser Permanente Medical Program and was also featured in the Sonoma County Library Publication
- Several students participated in the SSU Summer Search Program - one went to Thailand for six weeks; one went on a mountain expedition in Oregon; and one went to the Appalachian Mountains to explore rock climbing, backpacking, and white-water canoeing
