Staff

- Experienced and dedicated teachers that have an average of over 15 years working with at-risk youth
- All core academic teachers are highly qualified under the regulations of No Child Left Behind
- Staff directed, presented and participated in the California Subject Matter Projects
- Two teachers are statewide trainers for the California Literature Project
- Seven Staff members have completed or are completing their Master’s Degree and Administrative Credentials
- Weekly staff meetings allow time for discussion of individual student’s needs

- Small, safe campus environment with smaller class sizes than comprehensive high schools

- Designated a Model Continuation High school by the California Department of Education
- Class of 2007 scholarships:  Optimist, Kiwanis Club, Santa Rosa West Club, Soroptimist International, Doyle, Cal Grant, Caesar Viglienzone
- High Alternative Schools Accountability Model (ASAM) and Academic Performance Index (API) scores
- California Continuation Education Association (CCED) District III 2007/2008 Softball and Volleyball champions

Curriculum and Programs

- Variable Credit System – Students earn credit in half unit increments as they progress and learn
- STEP – Success Through Educational Progress – Students are evaluated every 3 weeks, receiving feedback on their progress
- Flexible Scheduling – Students may change classes every 3 weeks with the opportunity to take up to eight classes per day
- Exemplary Advisory System – Students meet with their advisor on a daily basis to discuss and solve both academic and social issues.  Advisors also meet with parent/guardian at registration appointment
- Night School option for students who must work during the day
- Extensive support for student transition to SRJC
- Career Pathways in Business, Visual Arts, and Fine Arts
- Classes available to help students prepare for the GED or California High School Proficiency Exam
- Law Day where students interact with local judges and lawyers
- Observatory Nights when students and the families can view and learn about the stars and planets
- Work Experience Program and Project Workability
- Extra-curricular, competitive athletic and intramural athletic programs
